ITS Israel is a non-profit organisation whose goal is to support Israeli transportation stakeholders (i.e. Transportation authorities, Highway operators, public & commercial transport providers, high-tech industries, academies & private consultants) at the development and deployment of Intelligent Transportation Systems in Israel and to facilitate the incorporation of Israeli ITS products worldwide.
ITS Israel has developed a strategic plan to meet the challenge of expediting ITS deployment process at national level as well as at the international level.
According to ITS Israel concept a National ITS Deployment Center should be established in order to handle the sophisticated mission of ITS deployment in one country. The ITS Deployment Center should contain the following CSC- Coordination & Support Centers:
- ITS deployment projects information Center
- Private public partnership & contracting support Center
- ITS system analysis support center
- ITS Systems Integration Support Center
- ITS Field Operational Support Center.
- ITS certification & customer support center.
As the first step of this strategic plan ITS Israel is now working on the establishment ofthe Israeli Field Operational Support Center & the following activities were performed:
- ITS Israel joined FOT-NET consortium as an associate member.
- An Israeli FOT working group was established with the cooperation of ILTAM association.
- A FOT-NET seminar was conducted in Israel on June 2010.
- A scale up activity was initiated to tailor eIMPACT- eSafety effectiveness assessment to Israel specific transportation environment.
ITS Israel is seeking for further cooperation with FOT-NET, ERTICO, ITS organization , Research & consultant institutes (TNO, VTT, Technion & others) in order to develop the required know-how & procedures to support a bidirectional cooperation between in-country agencies & pan European agencies responsible for ITS deployment.
